Professor Christopher Bentley
Professor Christopher Bentley is a Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon and Lead Clinician in Ophthalmology at the Central Middlesex Hospital London.
Specialising in squint and cataract treatment. He is also a Visiting Professor at Middlesex University and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Imperial College School of Medicine. He was previously a Fellow in Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus at Moorfields Eye Hospital and a Fellow in Paediatric Ophthalmology at Great Ormond Street Hospital London.
Christopher Bentley is currently involved in regular surgery for adult and paediatric cataract, adult and paediatric squint (with adjustable sutures) and all aspects of Botulinum Toxin treatment.
He is a member of The Royal College of the Ophthalmologists Microsurgical Skills and Paediatric Ophthalmology HST Faculties. He is a Vice-President of the Ophthalmology Section of the Royal Society of Medicine.
He initiated a National Diploma Course (PGDipOphth) at Middlesex University, the special interest being ophthalmology training for GPSIs / Nurse Practitioners / Optometrists / Orthoptists.
He acts as a personal mentor to local GPs and Optometrists taking this course.
Professor Bentley also acts as an examiner to various bodies including The City University, Imperial College London, Middlesex University, and the British College of Optometrists. He has published widely on many aspects of ophthalmology, squint and cataract treatment.
