This course is open to anyone actively caring for patients. There are no other requirements.

The course is designed to assist a range of healthcare professionals (HCPs) enhance their management of patients with potential thermoregulatory dysfunction. Specifically:

  1. Clinicians, nurses and physiotherapists working in anaesthetic and intensive care units
  2. Clinicians and nurses working with patients who are vulnerable to thermoregulatory problems e.g. elderly care, paediatrics, accident and emergency departments, disaster relief
  3. Nurses and care workers in the community e.g. care homes and rehabilitation units

Structure – The course consists of 4 units: normal physiology; changes in thermoregulatory changes at various temperatures; monitoring; control and management.

Assessment – Each unit is assessed online with higher-order thinking assessment questions. There’s a final timed assessment, that covers the 4-unit syllabus via randomly selected higher-order thinking questions. Our participants have access to the digital platform for 4 months to complete the certification (from the date of registration and payment of fees).

Qualification – Successful completion of the formative unit assessments and the final summative assessment gives you a Certificate in “Human Thermoregulation Management” (12 CPD credits from The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh).
